About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Lindsay, and I am a psychotherapist based in Liverpool city center. I offer safe and supportive in-person and online therapy for children, adolescents, and adults.
I believe deeply in the power of healing and growth. Throughout my career, I have witnessed the incredible capacity people have to heal through psychotherapy. I feel passionate and privileged to support individuals on their journey toward healing and self-development.
I have found that many of the people who reach out to me cope with their emotions through rationalization or avoid them by staying busy and pursuing success. While this focus on professional and academic achievements can bring a sense of accomplishment, it often leaves people feeling unfulfilled and disconnected from their emotions, desires, and values.
In therapy, I support clients to embrace their emotions as friends rather than foes. By working through painful emotions and past events, clients can move forward in life feeling lighter and more hopeful. I have seen individuals take control of their healing and growth, untangling the knots in their minds and bodies, gaining clarity, and finding peace of mind and meaning in their lives, relationships, and careers.
As a psychotherapist, I consider it a privilege to provide a safe and creative therapeutic space for others. I aim to support clients of all ages who feel disconnected from or overwhelmed by their emotions. Therapy offers a reflective space for self-care, helping clients become more attuned to their values and true desires.
Therapy is not always easy; it often involves facing painful or shameful parts of oneself or past experiences. However, embracing emotions in a safe and gentle way is essential for moving forward. My goal is to help you work through these feelings so you can pursue a more connected and meaningful life.
I look forward to supporting you on your journey to healing and growth.
Practice description
Person-Centered Therapy
Person-Centered therapy is a collaborative space for your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Feeling overwhelmed is common, and that's where I help. My commitment is to guide you in exploring and resolving issues. I support you as you delve into painful or shameful areas with openness, kindness, and respect.
Therapy goals vary for each individual. It may involve gaining clarity, managing overwhelming feelings, or uncovering hidden strengths. Together, we work towards your personal goals, considering your unique needs. Your growth and well-being are central to our collaboration.
Creative Approaches in Psychotherapy
Traditional talk therapy often engages the logical parts of our brains, limiting access to deeper emotional realms. Creative Approaches in Psychotherapy bridge this gap by tapping into the emotional regions. Creative techniques help us explore our inner worlds more deeply. You don't need to be artistically inclined; it’s about using creative methods to unlock emotions and experiences.
In our sessions, we explore your mind and body through drawing, mindfulness, music, or other outlets. This journey can lead to fresh perspectives, deeper self-understanding, and new ways to approach life's challenges.
Child-Centered Creative Therapy
As a psychotherapist specializing in Child-Centered creative therapy, I’ve worked with children in school settings, addressing issues like anxiety, low mood, school avoidance, ADHD, autism, bereavement, and emotional dysregulation. I’ve seen children gain confidence in expressing their emotions verbally and through play. Feedback indicates improved relationships, enhanced emotional understanding, and better integration into school environments.
Child-Centered therapy fosters self-autonomy and confidence. Through structured exploration, children develop self-regulation and a growth mindset. Play and creative approaches are central to this method, facilitating skill development and emotional expression.
My first session
During the first session you will be provided with the opportunity to more fully explore what prompted you to reach out for therapy, as well as a chance to identify any goals you wish to work in the following sessions.
When working with child clients, I prioritize building trust in the initial sessions so that they may feel comfortable to explore and process their emotions through creativity and play in later sessions.
I offer support for personal development outside of our sessions through goal setting, journaling prompts, and resources like worksheets, books, or podcasts tailored to your needs.
