About me and my therapy practice
I know that life can sometimes feel overwhelming and stressful, due to work, family and personal circumstances. When you feel like this, it is important that you have the space and support to deal with life's challenges. I can provide that safe, supportive and non-judgemental space, in which you can talk about and explore your concerns and feelings in confidence.
I will work with you to help you understand and manage your concerns and feelings, and to enable you to regain a sense of perspective and confidence going forward.
Practice description
I can offer you a welcoming, supportive and safe space when you are finding life difficult, whether through trauma, loss, bereavement, illness or relationship issues. Life can send challenges when we least expect them. At times like these we all need a calm space, where we can share our emotional burdens and learn how to manage them. I can provide that safe space that you need, and am willing to go on that journey with you.
I believe in the basic goodness and value of people. I feel that everyone deserves to have respect and dignity; to have their human rights supported; to be treated with equality and non-judgement; and be given opportunities to thrive and grow. As an integrative therapist, I practice Person-Centred therapy, which puts you, the client, at the centre of my work. As such, I honour and acknowledge your autonomy, in making your own decisions and choices.
My role is supporting you in finding answers to your therapy needs. I believe in the importance of empathy, acceptance, and congruence in my work, to allow you to experience trust and support.
I practice Psychosynthesis, which is both creative and spiritual, enabling you to explore your own unique path to self-realisation. This therapy offers a range of counselling techniques, including visualisation, dream-work, daily journaling, reflection, story-telling, artwork and working with symbols. I strongly associate creativity with healing, fulfilment and self-expression and it can be a type of ‘soul work’.
I also practice Psychodynamic counselling as I believe that our early years when we are trying to make those first attachments, are the most crucial influences on our later relationships. Difficulties with our early attachments can leave us with unresolved hurts or painful relationship experiences. However, I strongly believe that you can be helped to find resolution and healing and that the ability to achieve this is within yourself, given the space and support to do so.
My first session
In our first session, the intake session, I will go through the counselling contract with you so that you can get an idea of what our sessions will involve and what to expect. I will also ask you to complete a short assessment form, to help me understand more about you, your therapy needs and your goals. This is something we would discuss in more detail during the session to ensure that we can work together on achieving the best outcome for you, going forward.
My fee for this first session is £30.
