About me and my therapy practice
Navigating life and relationships isn’t always straightforward; sometimes it’s confusing, sometimes it’s difficult and sometimes it’s painful.
Therapy offers a safe and confidential space to explore issues that can be immensely difficult with compassion and curiosity. It can be cathartic, at times challenging but also involve humour and laughter too.
As a fully qualified psychotherapist, I aim to provide a warm, trusting and non-judgmental relationship which supports and encourages self-awareness. Working together, this exploration can help you find new perspectives and an understanding of the challenges and emotional distress you may be facing. This process can bring about change in your life, promote balance and develop autonomy.
Practice description
I am a UKCP Accredited Full Clinical Psychotherapist (membership number 2011182779) and a BACP Registered Member (membership number 399605). These professional bodies have strict codes of ethics and practice, to which I abide.
As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw on a number of theories and approaches to best suit the needs of the individual. My approach is holistic, taking into account the personal, physical, social and spiritual dimensions of life.
Therapy can therefore combine more practical tools, skills and psychoeducation with deeper psychological and philosophical exploration. Through an understanding of how the past may be playing out in the present, we can gain deeper insight into how this may be impacting our relationships and our experiences of life. We can then begin to make more informed choices.
My first session
I appreciate the courage it can take to seek help and that choosing the right therapist can feel daunting. Please contact me if you would like to arrange an initial, free, 20-minute online consultation (via zoom) to talk through what brings you to therapy and how we might work together.
The relationship is central to success in therapy and if we feel that we are a good fit, we can discuss either moving forward with a short-term contract (usually a minimum of 12 weeks) or open-ended contract, where we will regularly review our work together. If it is not the right fit, there is no obligation to continue.
