About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Michelle and I am a fully-trained integrative counsellor.
I provide a non-judgemental space that gives you an opportunity for exploration. Our sessions are a safe space for you to process and work through difficult thoughts, emotions and feelings. I will support you in your inherent ability to know your own intentions and have them honoured, allowing you to know yourself more and increase your awareness. Reaching out for support for yourself or your family member can be hard but can be the first step to making positive changes in life.
We will reflect on what may or may not be working for you in your life by taking a look at feelings, sensations and thoughts. Certain patterns or ways of being and relating can be identified that could free up energy and joy in life, and improve steadiness and ability to self-regulate. Once you become aware of these patterns, you will naturally take steps to transform your life into even more of what you want. We will work together to help you to build your own personal internal resources that may be lacking at present. You will learn how to understand your emotions, and work with them, rather than against them.
I have experience working with adults, adolescents and children in schools and private practice. I am able to offer creative sessions involving art and movement if that is something that would help your process.
I have a flexible approach and can offer short or long-term counselling; this is something we can arrange together.
I am a member of the BACP and abide by their ethical framework. My aim is to welcome you into a warm, safe environment where we can explore any struggles or issues that cause stress and anxiety together.
Counselling will help you feel more empowered, enabling you to better understand your thoughts and feelings.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me and my therapy practice. Please email me if you would like to ask any questions or to discuss things further.
Practice description
I am offering face-to-face sessions as well as options for online and telephone counselling sessions.
I am a qualified integrative therapeutic counsellor. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As an integrative therapist, I have a solid foundation in a variety of theoretical approaches. This allows me to tailor my way of working to attend to your unique needs. This often includes some of the following: I will help you to identify patterns in your thoughts and behaviours and find ways to change them, provide you with tools and techniques to manage anxiety and low self-esteem, explore your past and how this affects you today and support you to discover your potential and ability to make the right choices.
My first session
During your first session, we will talk through our working agreement together, including GDPR consent. It is an opportunity to see how we can work together, explore your expectations and desired outcomes from therapy, and for you to ask any questions you may have regarding the process. Offering you a safe space to be seen and heard is my top priority.
It is your time and I will take your lead unless you have specifically asked for purist CBT or solution-focussed brief therapy. In these instances, a more structured approach would be needed.
