About me and my therapy practice

Thinking about engaging in counselling or therapy can often feel overwhelming and scary, but by taking this first step to search for something that is right for you is such a big achievement!

My name is Izzy and my goal is to help you achieve yours. I will work with you every step of the way in a person centred approach so that you are in control of the process. I offer a variety of creative methods within my practice to help sessions feel comfortable and engaging.

I personally specialise in working with women and girls who have been diagnosed or identify as Autistic and/or ADHD. Navigating a world that was made for the Neurotypical person can often bring a mix of difficult emotions for those of us who are Neurodiverse. As an Autistic woman myself, I feel I am able to empathise and understand what you might be struggling with on a deeper level and help you to process anything that comes with that.

Additionally, I have a vast experience working with both Domestic Abuse survivors and those experiencing Suicide Bereavement. These are both such complex experiences which I am here to help you navigate and process in a safe and ethical way.

Practice description

At Izzy's Counselling and Spiritual Wellbeing you can be rest assured that you are in safe and capable hands as I am a full member of the BACP, following their ethical guidelines throughout all sessions. Additionally I am covered by relevant insurance and qualified with a MA Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice from Liverpool John Moores University.

I operate both online and in person so you can have the flexibility of how you would like to engage in sessions. Part of the practice we also have the therapy dog, Cookie, so there is the flexible option of adding Animal Assisted Therapy to your experience.

My first session

When you first get in touch, we shall organise an informal chat together either over the phone or via Microsoft Teams to ask a few questions and understand what support you are hoping for. For any clients under the age of 18 years, this chat will be conducted with the parent or guardian. This initial chat is free of charge.

During your first session with me, we will conduct an assessment session to gain an understanding of your needs and goals during your time with me, but also to ensure that we will be the best fit for each other. It is really important to me that every client works with the best counsellor or therapist for them, so I will always be honest about my abilities to support you in your mental health and spiritual wellbeing journey.

This first session will be completed at a reduced rate of £40 and has a 50 minute time allocation, and you have the choice of conducting this in person or online with me. For clients under the age of 18 years, the parent or guardian can be present for the first part of this session to help the younger client become settled and feel safe.
