About me and my therapy practice
I am a professional therapist with a special interest in supporting adolescents and young adults (12 – 25 years old). I support my clients to overcome everyday life problems that are causing unhappiness or anxiety, as well as more serious mental health issues. In particular, I work with individuals struggling with eating problems and eating disorders, offering psychotherapy and Enhanced CBT to facilitate their recovery.
Practice description
I currently work at The Eaves, a purpose-built facility on the outskirts of Guildford, which offers a selection of beautiful therapy rooms. There is parking available for clients and a comfortable waiting area for parents.
My first session
I like to have a telephone conversation with my client, or their parent/guardian, before meeting face-to-face. This allows me to establish the nature of the difficulties being faced and my client (or their parent/guardian) to get to know me a little. If we both feel a therapeutic intervention could help, I would offer a first session at my usual rate.
The first session is an opportunity for my client to ask any questions they may have and begin to explore with me any issues that are causing difficulties in their life at home, at school/college or at work. I will explain what I can offer, and describe CBT-E in more detail if appropriate.
For some clients, it may be appropriate to carry out an assessment during this session to determine the nature and severity of an eating problem. I offer a longer session (80 minutes) if this is required.
