About me and my therapy practice

As a primarily person centred therapist my approach is focused on the unique needs and experiences of each client. I believe in the inner potential of every individual to grow, change, and reach their goals. My role is to support and empower you as you navigate life's challenges and opportunities.

Creating a safe and supportive environment is my top priority. I strive to foster a non-judgmental and accepting space where you can freely share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. In this atmosphere, you can explore your inner world without fear of criticism or rejection.

I listen actively and empathetically, aiming to understand your perspectives and experiences from your point of view. I am fully present in our sessions, continuously reflecting on and deepening my understanding of your thoughts and feelings.

As we develop a relationship of trust and openness, I work collaboratively with you to identify your goals and aspirations and to address the challenges that may be hindering your progress. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I am here to empower you to find your own solutions and make choices that reflect your unique needs and values.

Additionally, I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a complementary approach, tailoring the therapy to your individual needs. By integrating ACT methods, we can collaboratively discover the best path forward, promoting mindfulness, acceptance, and actions aligned with your values.

Together, we will create a therapeutic experience uniquely suited to you, helping you overcome obstacles and move towards a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Practice description

As a client in my therapy practice, you can expect a safe and supportive environment where you are the primary focus. I will work collaboratively with you to explore and understand your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment or pressure.

I strive to build a warm and empathetic relationship with you, taking the time to understand your unique needs and experiences. I listen actively and reflectively, creating a non-judgmental and accepting space where you can feel heard and validated.

In addition to the person-centred approach, I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques to complement our work together. ACT helps you develop psychological flexibility by encouraging acceptance of your thoughts and feelings, mindfulness, and committed action based on your core values. This dual approach allows us to tailor the therapy to your individual needs, finding the best way forward collaboratively.

An important aspect of my approach is the emphasis on self-determination and autonomy. You are in control of your own therapy. We will identify your goals and explore ways to achieve them together, focusing on your present experiences and how they impact you now.

Through our sessions, we will use person-centred methods such as empathy, reflection, and validation, along with ACT techniques like mindfulness and values clarification. This integrated approach aims to enhance your self-awareness, promote growth, and empower you to make meaningful changes in your life.

My first session

I usually offer a free 30-minute initial session so we can decide whether we are a good fit to work together. During this session, we will discuss your goals and what you hope to achieve from therapy. It is also an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the therapy process, and available hours for sessions, or discuss any issue that you may wish to know regarding how I work, whether you want online or face-to-face counselling etc.

At the end of the session, there will be an opportunity for feedback on how the session went and whether you feel comfortable continuing with therapy or you may wish to have more time to think about it.
