About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative therapist, who has practiced in NHS, private and low- cost organisations. I have experince of working with a range of issues such as; anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationships issues. In addition to this, I specialised in Trauma and PTSD.
The first step in counselling is finding a therapist you trust and feel comfortable with. I strongly believe an authentic connection between you and me is what builds a solid foundation for counselling work.
I understand starting therapy can feel daunting and my aim is to provide a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space where your needs can be heard, respected and above all understood.
Practice description
During our sessions, you will have the opportunity to explore your past, present and any fears you have about your future. Working together, I will help you to identify your underlying defences and triggers and explore how these might be affecting your life.
I use an Integrative model in my approach which means I will work with your personal needs to find the most suitable method of counselling for you in order to help you develop copying strategies to enhance your mental and emotional wellbeing.
My first session
I offer a free 20 - minute telephone consultation to see how I may be of service to you. We can briefly explore what brings you to therapy, you can ask any questions you may have and also it is a great opportunity for you to see if you feel comfortable to work with me.
Then depending on our availability we can arrange an initial 50 minute session.
In our first session I will do an initial asssesment, it sounds very clinical but I assure you it is not - this is just an opportunity for me to get to know you better.
Firstly we explore what brings you to therapy, and what is troublesome for you in the present. After we finish with the present issues, then we go back into your past.
We explore your relationship with your primary caregivers, your family dynamics, current and past intimate relationships.
