About me and my therapy practice
Based on the outskirts of York, I am a qualified person centered counsellor and registered with the BACP. I have specialist qualificiations in bereavement and loss.
I offer face to face counselling as well as online and telephone sessions. I am interested in eco therapy and often integrate walk and talk sessions to help with processing of tricky issues. I find being outside can be extremely therapeutic for some people.
Practice description
I work as a person centered therapist. But what is that?
The analogy I use is -we are carrying a bag with our issues wrapped as parcels of various sizes inside. You, as the client come into the space, with your bag and decide which parcel you want to open . We can then work on that particular issue. Sometimes , we can work through the problems and you will feel the parcel is dealt with and we can dispose of the packaging and move on. Sometimes you might want to open it for a while and deal with part of it then wrap it back up and put it back in your bag for a later time. As you progress in your therapy, your bag will start to feel easier to carry as your parcels get smaller and lighter.
The main thing is that you hold the bag!
I work ethically when exploring your thoughts, feelings and emotions, and I abide by the BACP framework.
My office is at Clifton Moor so has excellent transport links. Parking is nearby and the building is fully accessible.
It offers a private and safe space to come to where we can work together. I offer calmness and warmth, alongside being non-judgemental, to enable you to build upon your own inner resources.
My first session
The first session is a free short introductory session lasting about twenty minutes. You can explain what you are looking to achieve and I can explain how I can help. I will also answer any questions you may have. There is no obligation to book there and then as you may want to speak to other providers before making a decision.
If you decide to work with me I will send you my working contract ahead of the next session and we will discuss it as part of the introductory phase. You will then be invited to sign if you are happy to proceed.
