About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Joanna, and thanks for visiting my page.
There are times in everyone’s life when we need help, not only with physical ailments, but also with our minds. You may be feeling confused, upset, angry or experiencing a loss of direction; therapy can help unpick all of this. You may be experiencing relationship issues and are not sure how to approach them, or just feel ‘stuck’. I can offer both short and long-term therapy, depending on what issues you bring and how deep they run.
We can unknowingly carry traumatic experiences around with us, which can impact upon our mind, body and behaviours. I work at your pace, ensuring you will feel heard, comfortable and safe, whilst supporting you in finding your own solutions by empowering you to do so. I provide a safe space with respect and unconditional acceptance, and I believe strongly in building one another’s trust early on in the process.
I aim to help my clients work through difficult periods of their life, by exploring issues together in a non-judgmental, empathic and caring environment. I have experience in working with depression, anxiety, stress, loss and bereavement, narcissism, abuse and cult exit issues. I have experience in working with clients from all walks of life, who have brought issues that range vastly.
In addition to other therapies, I also use Inner Child therapy, which can help you to understand what unmet needs you have, and help to nurture them via a 'reparenting' process. This can allow you to unlock your free and inner child, introducing a pathway to becoming your more 'authentic self', and not worrying about judgment or what the 'outside' world thinks of you.
Taking the first step to speak to a counsellor can be very daunting, as can wondering whether I am the right person for you. Therefore, I offer a free 20-minute phone call at the outset, to discover whether we think we are a good fit, before making any commitment to attend paid sessions with me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Practice description
I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor, therefore I use different modalities of therapy to tailor my services to individuals.
The therapy models I work with are Person-Centred (Humanistic), Transaction Analysis (TA), Inner Child Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). When working with you I am able to draw on all of these therapies to find the best solution for you as a unique individual.
I also offer discounted rates for trainees and people on a low income.
My first session
If you decide to an initial session with me following a phone consultation, I am happy to work on the basis of us both deciding whether we are the right fit following this.
If not for any reason, I guarantee I will not be offended in any way, and should you wish for me to, I am happy to try and refer you to counsellors in my network.
