About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Jo
... let me introduce myself
I'm an experienced qualified counsellor, working in the private sector and as a volunteer Counsellor at MIND, providing high-quality counselling services to a diverse range of clients. I have years of experience helping individuals overcome a wide range of challenges. I offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings and work towards a happier, healthier life.
MY APPROACH
Life is a journey which can take many twists and turns which can lead to feeling confused, overwhelmed and out of control. Talking therapy can help in lots of ways and can be the start of your new journey of personal understanding and awareness. Whether it be short term goals, changing your behaviours, which are restricting you, or wanting to make sense of challenging or traumatic experiences in your life. Any of these may have led you to lose sight of yourself, leading you to feel unable to fulfil or even recognise your full potential. My goal is to offer you hope by joining you on your journey and showing you that there are many choices available to you that may help get you to your destination.
Practice description
I offer weekly sessions which last 50 minutes in a safe non-judgmental space, where you can be yourself and tell your story at your own pace. The sessions are personalised to you, so you are completely in charge of what you talk about, and we can go in any direction you need. Together we can explore what you are feeling in the hope of working towards the happier and healthier you that you deserve
APPROACH & TECHNIQUES USED
My focus will always be to listen to you and provide support and guidance in a warm and secure environment.
I use a variety of evidence-based techniques, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, psycho-dynamic, person-centred counselling and mindfulness practises, to help you overcome negative thought patterns and behaviours. As well as talking therapy, I use additional resources such as stones, art therapy and worksheets, which are tailored to your individual needs.
I can also provide telephone or video counselling on request.
My first session
I offer a free, no obligation, telephone consultation to chat about the service I provide and the issues you are facing. If you feel happy to proceed we can then arrange an initial session to meet face to face.
