About me and my therapy practice

My name is Yasmin and I am a mother to 5 children and 3 grandchildren. I am of dual heritage and have volunteered in the community for as long as I can remember, which has exposed me to a wide range of people and experiences. This has helped me develop a deeper understanding of the challenges and struggles faced by individuals from different backgrounds. This translates to greater empathy and connection with my clients which is paramount for success in counselling.

I have experience working with trauma, complex needs and neurodiversity. I have worked in the education sector, and currently work with victims who have been sexually assaulted or raped. I provide one to one counselling, creating a safe space where you can be yourself without judgement. I work with individuals of all backgrounds, beliefs, ages, gender and presentations. Specialist in the BAME community,

Practice description

I am a qualified person-centred counsellor/therapist and a registered member of the BACP offering online and in person therapeutic sessions to children, teenagers and adults. I also have an Advanced Specialist Training in Counselling Children and Young People (CPCAB Level 5 Certificate).TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Self-harm and Suicide Awareness and Prevention.

Person-centred counselling, also known as client-centred therapy, puts you at the heart of the therapeutic process. I believe that you are the expert on your own life and my role is to walk alongside you, offering empathy, understanding and a space where you can feel truly heard.

I can support you with a wide range of issues, including:

Anxiety, abuse, ADHD, ADD, stress, depression, relationship difficulties, work-related issues, self-esteem, grief/bereavement, personal growth, low self-esteem, behavioural problems, social difficulties, family changes, anger management, grief, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, OCD, PTSD, BPD, eating disorders and emotional expressions (using creative techniques as appropriate for their age)

During our sessions, I will provide a warm, non-judgmental environment where you can explore your concerns at your own pace. I will listen attentively and offer support as you develop your own coping mechanisms and find solutions that work for you.

For children I might use sand, clay, toys and games, art materials  are available for your child/teen.  Understanding the value of play and creativity to help process feelings and to make sense of the child’s internal landscape. For online sessions I am able to use alternative digital tools such as the whiteboard, digital sand-tray and relevant games.
