About me and my therapy practice
Finding a therapist who feels like the right fit, as well as starting therapy can feel daunting. A supportive, empathic, and non-judgmental relationship is critical to our sense of safety when exploring the parts of us that are vulnerable or wounded.
We are all different and have a unique way in which our world is experienced. My approach is integrative which means I work with different approaches to find what suits you and tailor them to your needs.
As an integrative therapist, my core therapeutic style is Existential and Relational with a strong Humanistic foundation. I describe myself as friendly, approachable and playful.
I believe that the quality of relationship between client and therapist is important for growth and the reparation of our wounds of the past. Only when trust exists, do we feel safe enough to allow the exploration of how we experience our world and make meaning of it.
Practice description
I work with people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, sexual identities/orientation, neurodiversity, and people who identity across the gender spectrum. As a working class, queer woman I have always felt personally passionate about holding the layers of our intersectionality and identity.
My focus starts with building a strong rapport and a healthy foundation. For most of us it can feel unique to have a place just for us, somewhere we can begin to unpack what we carry, feel heard or listened to. Cultivating a connection in a non-judgmental space can bring forward parts of ourselves that we have learned to hide, keep guarded, make small or feel ashamed of.
My first session
Whether it is short term or long-term therapy, counselling can help you to reflect and feel supported in periods of emotional distress, low self-esteem, or times of change/transition.
In our first session I will open up the space for an informal and free flowing chat to understand what has brought you to therapy, a brief view of your history and current issues. This will give you an opportunity to see how you feel talking to me and whether you think we can work together.
Feel welcome to contact me with any questions and enquiries.
