About me and my therapy practice
I’m Kelly, a qualified person-centred counsellor working with all ages online, in person and in schools.
I work honestly with care, sensitivity and respect. My aim is to develop a collaborative relationship with my clients based on trust and to provide a calm and private space for clients to feel heard.
Its very important for me to understand my clients emotions, what’s going on in their life, how its affecting them and to really know what its like to be them.
My approach is not about rescuing, helping or enabling clients, it’s about understanding each clients own unique journey and movement and the clients are in charge of this.
My values include honesty, integrity, kindness, respect and courage. I am very driven in my approach to life and work and have always been one to pay attention to the people around me.
Exploring what clients are thinking and feeling and relating to them by showing warmth, acceptance, and empathy are the cornerstones of my counselling process.
With my clients I build a relationship of trust, confidentiality, and mutual respect allowing clients a safe space to explore whats going on in the world and to understand what they want from counselling and walk alongside them while they get there.
Practice description
I have a private practice in Marlow, Buckinghamshire where I see clients face to face.
I also offer walk and talk or online sessions according to client preference.
Each person is wonderfully individual with very personal and unique experiences, which is why I’ll tailor my service to individual clients. No two clients are ever the same.
It's not easy talking openly about yourself. I understand this can be a huge step for many people into the unknown.
Making the decision to come to counselling clients may feel vulnerable and anxious.
I am here for each individual client whenever they feel ready to say more about their issues, thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
We will explore them, free from any judgement in the counselling room together.
Person-centred counselling is less about receiving advice and more about exploring different ways to look at challenging issues that bring about a healthy conclusion so that clients can feel more positive, resourceful and find their own way of moving forward and bring about change if this is what they are looking for.
My first session
I have a dedicated private practice in Marlow. From my quiet studio, I offer individual sessions on an open-ended basis, short or long term working both face to face and online.
Should you choose to go ahead with me, we will find a mutually convenient time for an initial 50-minute counselling session. In the first session we’ll explore the issues and concerns that have prompted you to contact me. We will then work together to agree how to help you to move forward, ideally, setting a few realistic goals if that works for you. I work flexibly so you can decide whether you need a single session or ongoing support on a short or long term basis.
