About me and my therapy practice
We can all hit times in our lives where we feel anxious, depressed or we've lost our way and we need help to get back on track. These times may come with bereavement, change, conflict or uncertainty and if you are looking at my profile that means you have taken the first step to reach out for that help and start counselling.
Counselling can not just help with a variety of Mental Health challenges, like anxiety, depression and panic attacks. Our work can give you the tools to process past events and find coping strategies to help reduce stress, manage the challenges of daily life and find ways of moving forward.
Finding the right counsellor can be a daunting process - you might be wondering if we will connect, if I will truly understand you or if I possess the expertise to help with specific concerns. This is why I offer you a free, no obligation telephone consultation to discuss any questions you may have and for you to get a sense of how we would work together as finding the right fit can be key to the success of the process.
Practice description
I work predominantly with a Person Centred focus. This humanistic approach means I work empathetically and without judgement to understand your individual experience from your perspective.
I am able to draw from a range of therapeutic modalities and psycho-educational tools so that our therapy sessions are tailored to your unique and individual needs. We can focus on your current circumstances or delve into your past if it impacts on your present and future.
We will work collaboratively, you set the goals and the pace of our work. Together we can begin to unpack what’s really going on for you and work towards understanding these issues that are not just affecting your relationship with yourself but maybe with those around you. I believe that counselling can help untangle those difficult thoughts and patterns of behaviour. It can give you the ability and insight to address these feelings and achieve a deeper understanding of who you are and give you the tools for what you want to achieve.
Through this exploration, reflection, gentle challenge and psycho-education we can find new perspectives, begin to make changes and help develop your potential. I’ll listen to whatever you wish to share and I believe that speaking openly and honestly to someone who accepts you unconditionally can be a significant step towards healing.
Whether we meet in person or online, I’m here for as many sessions as you require.
My first session
How will I know if we are a good ‘fit’?
I believe that for counselling to be truly beneficial you need to find a counsellor who you feel safe and comfortable with. I offer a free 20 minute session on the phone or via zoom where we can discuss what you would like to achieve from our work together and I can explain a little bit about how I work.
Where will the sessions take place?
If we are working face to face the sessions will take place in my private therapy room in in Goudhurst, Kent. There is plenty of parking, however there are steps to the house which means it is not accessible by wheelchair.
How does online counselling work?
If you would prefer to work remotely I will send you a link to join me on zoom 2 hours before the session is due to start. If there are any problems with the connection I will call you and we can continue the session via telephone or reschedule. I am also trained in telephone counselling if that is your preference.
