About me and my therapy practice
I believe therapy is transformative. I provide a holding and supportive space where all feelings, thoughts and experiences are welcome. I am a qualified integrative counsellor which means I draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches depending on your needs. Exploring integration can also mean where our socio-political-cultural context shapes or meets our inner narratives. I adopt an intersectional perspective that invites GSRD and cross-cultural experiences.
My educational and work history is rooted in somatic practice. For 30 years I have worked in dance, theatre and yoga: making, performing and teaching. I maintain a creative, somatic practice and this can feature in therapy when the talking cure feels limited, where the non-verbal feels prevalent or when a ‘rehearsal for life’ feels useful. We can also explore our working relationship as a live tuning fork to understand relationship patterns with others.
Practice description
I trained at The Minster Centre and qualified with a diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am currently completing an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy. I have been working as a counsellor for Frontline, a culturally sensitive service that aims to make therapy as accessible, for two years. I have worked with a number of people presenting a variety of challenging experiences including anxiety, depression, PTSD, relationship difficulties, addiction, shame, self-worth, grief, post-natal depression, cross-cultural issues, questions re: GSRD and spiritual crises.
My first session
If you are curious, please get in touch via email or phone and we can arrange a short initial consultation where we can explore whether we feel we are the right fit to work together. Should we decide to go forward, the first session will be a structured one in which I will ask you questions about what brought you to therapy. This will give us the oppportunity to establish how best to work together in a way that is relevant to your needs. We can then book in a regular weekly slot. This session will be reserved for you at the same time. We can work on a short or long-term basis and this can be periodically reviewed.
