About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapeutic counsellor working in Brighton and Hove and online.
I offer weekly, open-ended, one-to-one therapy, in-person or online.
My approach uses the therapeutic relationship and the regular rhythm of our sessions to offer you a space where you can come and speak about whatever is on your mind. I have experience in working with many issues that people may come for help with, not limited to: trauma, self-esteem, anxiety, life changes, becoming a parent, family relationships, work and career issues or changes, sleep problems, fatigue, health problems and pain disorders, depression, bereavement, mourning, loss, identity, social relationships and anxiety, and belonging.
I work in an LGBTQ+ inclusive way, and offer a welcoming and non-judgemental space to all clients.
Practice description
Psychodynamic therapy places the client at the centre of the therapy, meaning that it doesn’t tend to prescribe or follow a pre-formulated structure. Instead, each session invites you to begin where you need to, and we take the work wherever it needs to go.
This therapy will offer you the experience of being listened to deeply, and a space where you can come and explore the things that are confusing you or weighing on you, or the things which you would like to understand or resolve. This work is also exploratory, and people often find that, through the mutual curiosity in their story that develops over time, they are able to discover improved feelings of self-worth or a greater sense of ease in daily life.
The way I work is grounded in the belief that, through the psychodynamic process of being invited to speak about ourselves, our inner worlds, and our stories, we come to better understand ourselves and so improve and heal our relationships with ourselves and others.
People can find psychodynamic therapy useful when they are feeling lost or confused, or are seeking a greater understanding or sense of meaning in themselves, their lives, or their relationships. This work can build confidence, and self-esteem. You might not have one clear reason for coming to therapy, and that's ok too.
My first session
I offer a free, 15-minute introductory phone call or zoom call, where we can discuss your therapy needs and arranging a first session.
I understand that searching for a therapist involves careful thought, and perhaps many questions. I am here to support you in deciding whether therapy with me is right for you. In a first session we can talk about any questions you have and what you are looking for in therapy. I will explore with you what brings you to therapy at this time. The first session is a chance for you to experience what therapy with me is like and to see if things feel like the right fit for you.
Please get in touch using the email address above, or via the BACP directory contact box to the side of this page, if you have any questions, or would like to arrange a free introductory call.
