About me and my therapy practice
Hiya - I'm Beth, & I'm a Creative Psychotherapist. I'm here for those who'd wish to explore whatever's going on. Life is a LOT; especially right now. Having a safe space, dedicated to your needs is something we all desire, so lets get started.
Whether you have a focus for the sessions; something that has happened, continued feelings troubling you, issues with wellbeing or an area of your life, having a space to talk it out, to understand it or to explore the situation, yourself or your past - there is so much potential. There is no expectation to have a goal here, unless thats something you feel would be useful for you and there is also no expectation to even know exactly what is troubling you - we can figure that out together.
The aspect of sessions I have found most useful for building client/therapist relationships has been congruence. The understanding that there is no hierarchy, and that besides being the professional who is holding the space, I attend sessions as myself. This means that within the person-centred approach and integrative methods, with the additional potential of creative expression, my sessions offer genuine curiosity and follow the lead the client offers.
To hopefully help your understanding, person-centred therapy focuses the session around the perspective and hopes of the client. The time and space is centred around what you want and this is delivered by the therapist offering an empathetic, and congruent space using active listening, curiosity and reflection.
Practice description
My practice, whether online or in-person, offers talking therapies and creative approaches, facilitating psycho-education, inner-child exploration, mindfulness and meditation and Emotional Freedom Technique and further methods to support adults, young people and children in explore mental health issues, T(t)rauma, relationship issues, complexities with the Self, the past, the future and unease.
Here, we can work together to build an understanding and curiosity of your situation, within an unbiased and confidential, space space.
My first session
We can have an initial 20 minute call for free for you to ask any questions about sessions and so you can feel more familiar with the space come our first session.
Before this first session, I will send a document or two for you to provide some details and information about yourself and to agree to sessions via a contract.
In the first session, we will discuss the contract further, discuss confidentiality and the expectations of each person's space, if online, and we will have some time to discuss safety as required, and to more deeply discuss your reasons for attending therapy and why we are here. This may be a time to share more about yourself, your life, family, history etc, or a specific situation or focus, should you wish to do so.
