About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Janet and thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I know taking this first step is scary and probably one of the most difficult decisions you will make in your life but sometimes things don’t go how you expect turning your life upside down and you ask yourself “Why me?” The more you try the harder it becomes, you’re feeling anxious, stressed, maybe having panic attacks, unable to sleep or concentrate because you don’t know what to do or how to cope. I can offer you a safe place to explore and help you work through these feelings.
It's not always easy talking to family and friends because you feel they won’t understand and will judge you. Talking things through with someone who is empathic, wants to listen and understand without judgement in total confidence can help you see things more clearly clarifying those feelings, thoughts, fears and worries to help you turn things around and get your life back on track. This is where I can help.
Practice description
A little about me and my practice
I am a counsellor in person-centred therapy, and I offer a safe, warm, and empathic place where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life and I will listen without judgement working with you to explore, understand, and make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences to find your way through to making positive changes to improve your life.
I have over 30 years experience of working in adult care; with vulnerable adults of all ages and young people; education both within schools, education welfare and numerous educational programmes, and also with adults particularly those with learning disabilities as I am an adult literacy and numeracy tutor. I have sound knowledge and understanding of the overwhelming difficulties both adults, children and young people experience particularly when caring for others, being in the care system, struggling to learn in school and in later life as an adult, all of which can have a profound effect on life in general especially when being or having been bullied in school, the workplace or home.
Working together with mutual trust, respect, and honesty in total confidence I will help you learn to understand you, so things become clearer, and you become more confident able to better cope with problems, stress, and anxiety in the future.
My first session
