About me and my therapy practice
My clients have described me as sincere, non judgemental and having been there for them in times of need.
I aim to provide all my clients with the same level of therapeutic relationship and feel that my conversational approach has helped form a strong foundation of trust and security.
Through our work together I will help you work against all the past words that have been laid upon you, that may have crushed your confidence and stolen your wholesome self. My promise to you, is to help you challenge everything you have been conditioned and wired to think that you are "supposed to" do, feel, be or even how society feels that you should look like or even weigh. To work all the hours that you can to prove you are worthy, when inside you just feel like screaming "stop the world I want to get off", is something I know all too well.
It's time to discover what "YOU" feel you should do, feel like or look like instead.
Practice description
My background involved working for 13 years in the London Ambulance Service, during which time I had contact with many people that needed help beyond bodily injuries in the form of mind health, and just simply either didn't know what help was available to them, how to access it or simply could not obtain it when needed.
I have worked as a volunteer as a Samaritan and also for the text line SHOUT - both contact points for people in crisis and during this time it cemented in my mind that I wanted to progress in my career as a counsellor and psychotherapist.
I then went on to study for 5 years in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, during which I attained a wealth of knowledge to aid me in my new career path, an intense but wholly worthwhile course that allowed me to be prepared to identify my own issues and to help others with theirs. Through completing my courses I was proud to become a fully certified and qualified counsellor/psychotherapist.
I started off my counselling career at a local college counselling students from age 16 plus who were from all walks of life. Once qualified I started up Quinlan Counselling which is where you are today. I have now been counselling clients which has been over 3 years.
I think sometimes as counsellors, we think its good to hide "us" so actually, I bring "me" to the sessions. I am personable and relatable. I believe I am human first, therapist next, and this is how I am able to connect with clients.
