About me and my therapy practice

Developing resilience and strategies to cope with what life throws at you can be easier said than done. Being confident or content with yourself can seem like it will never happen, or that this is for someone else. One off events or continual cycles of negativity can leave you feeling alone, scared, unable to cope, angry, confused, or lost. Counselling can help to work your way through this labyrinth and breaking repetitive cycles of damaging thoughts and behaviours, to new patterns of understanding that allow you to move towards change, and an acceptance of what cannot be changed. It can help develop vulnerabilities as strengths. As a counsellor, I look to hold the ladder, while you climb above the walls of the maze to see what the best direction for you is and then to help, guide, and prepare you move in that direction.

I am an integrative counsellor, and have counselled in many settings over many years, ranging from the NHS, to schools, to private practice. Before focusing on any mode of working, I believe the most important factor is the relationship that is built between the two people in counselling room, the client and the counsellor. Counselling can be a daunting step to take, especially if it is completely new to a person. The focus on the relationship allows a space for both people to develop a trust in a safe environment that nurtures open and honest dialogue, and pathways for growth and understanding on the issues and problems in the client's world. If you feel this would benefit you, please contact me for an initial introduction, normally around 20 minutes (no charge), where we can outline what counselling can help with, for you to decide if this is the right path for you, and if trust can be developed.
