About me and my therapy practice
As an experienced, fully qualified, and registered counsellor, I understand that knowing where to start and how to tackle challenges can seem overwhelming and intimidating but I am here to help you through this process.
Counselling is exciting, as well as maybe causing some anxiety, it provokes feelings as you start to make changes but by working together with me, I can help you to grow and change in a positive direction.

Practice description
I offer a therapeutic space that is safe and non-judgemental and I look forward to helping you get to understand yourself a bit better and exploring resolutions to your problems and challenges.
I am a BACP registered counsellor, trained as an integrative counsellor, specialising in the person-centred model, meaning I can use different therapeutic models to help you towards healing and self-discovery, but always recognise you as the “expert on yourself”. I will properly listen to your concerns, feelings and thoughts and be by your side for this journey.
My approach is to work with you to find out what counselling will work best for you, whether that is one-off sessions for in-the-moment support, short-term focused therapy to explore a particular challenge, long-term open-ended therapy to explore deep-seated issues or ad-hoc counselling sessions when you need extra support.
In using this approach we can work together and find a way to resolve the issues and challenges that brought you to counselling.
My first session
Our first session together is a combination of an assessment and any in-the-moment support I can offer, in this session, I will look to understand what brings you to seek out counselling now, what is currently happening in your life and how we can work together.
Before this session, I will send you an assessment form for you to fill out and return to me before the meeting. By doing this we can make the best use of the time. Along with the assessment form there will be a copy of my terms and conditions that includes payment details and other information about how we can work together – this document is often referred to as a “counselling contract” and I will ask you to sign it and return to me before the initial session.
** I offer a 10% discount if six sessions are booked and paid for in advance ** contact me at matt@qscounselling.co.uk
