About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified, experienced and accredited psychodynamic therapist working with adults in NW1. My approach is contemporary. I work according to each individual's specific concerns, aims and unique situation. My practice offers a space to be understood and to explore different aspects of yourself with a view to gaining insights and achieving desired changes.
Alongside my private practice, I work as an Adult Psychotherapist in an NHS Psychodynamic Psychotherapy service. I bring significant experience from my work within the NHS, where I have worked with adults with a wide range of difficulties in different clinical settings. I have also worked with university students and young adults in the charitable and 3rd party sector.
My training was at the University of Oxford; where I completed the clinical 4-year Masters in Psychodynamic Practice programme with distinction. I am accredited with the UKCP and a registered member of the BACP. I am also a member of the Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector. I practice within the ethical framework and good practice guidelines of these organisations. I attend regular supervision and professional development programmes and workshops to enhance my development
Practice description
Psychodynamic thinking is at the heart of my practice. This means the therapy seeks to get to the root of the problem rather than focus on surface symptoms. It involves exploring early experiences and developing a better understanding of unconscious motivations and repetitive patterns of relating.
Talking to a therapist in a safe and confidential space may allow a deeper understanding of yourself and how you relate to others and with the outside world. Therapy provides the opportunity to make sense of difficult experiences and feelings or persisting anxieties. This often brings hope, relief and some clarity.
My clinical interests include complex trauma, family and relationship issues and the intertwining of mental and physical health. I am passionate about making therapy more accessible and relevant across all social, cultural, economic backgrounds and across different presentations.
Some of the issues I have worked with in the past include:
- Anxiety and Depression/Feelings of emptiness
- Self-doubt and low self-esteem
- Relationship/family difficulties
- Problems related to working life/career
- Loss & bereavement
- Attachment issues
- Sexuality
- Sexual abuse
- Life transitions and decisions
- Self-destructive behaviour patterns
- Anger and conflict
My first session
You can begin by having a 15 minutes call with me to decide if its helpful for us to meet for an initial consultation.
The process then follows with one or more initial consultation meetings which lasts about an hour. During the sessions, I am interested in knowing more about you including what has brought you to therapy. We can gather a sense of what it is like to work together, and decide about on-going therapy and weekly fees. Therapy thereafter involves meeting regularly (weekly) for sessions that last fifty minutes. I also offer a few reduced fee places. You can contact me for a brief chat beforehand with no obligation to attend.
