About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Gurpreet, I work as an integrative counselling and psychotherapist. I work with 3 modalities Person-centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Attachment.
As an experienced Counsellor I offer a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space for people to explore their difficulties and concerns. I feel it is important to develop an understanding and awareness of what your triggers are and what has caused your presenting problem as well as work on how to overcome and manage the impact of this now. I value the importance of autonomy in the therapy, for you to have a choice in how you want to work and process through your presenting problems whilst supporting you in this journey.
My expertise is in working with clients with a range of issues who have experienced trauma, sexual violence, domestic abuse and childhood abuse, low mood, self-criticalness, depression, low self-esteem, stress, anxiety, bereavement and anger. Whether you wish to process or offload, counselling can help and support you in this process.
Practice description
I have an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. Whilst studying I worked within three different placements working with two private practices face-to-face and online and National Health Service (secondary mental health). Before retraining as a psychotherapist, I worked within the education sector as a college lecturer has given me a range of experience working with people of all ages.
I offer both short-term and long-term psychotherapy on a one-to-one basis for adults (16 years and over). Sessions are conducted online via Zoom or telephone (whichever you prefer). This enables me to offer support across the UK as all sessions are online.
My first session
Initially, upon contact being made, I offer a free 30 minute phone call to discuss the counselling support, the challenges you are facing and so that I can answer any questions you may have. From here we would then arrange the first session in which we would complete an assessment to ensure I am the right therapist for you and likewise to ensure you are happy continuing sessions with myself. First session will be 60 minutes due to assessment taking place. All sessions after will be 50 minutes.
