About me and my therapy practice
"Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths" says Scott Peck in The Road Less Travelled life. When facing such difficulties in life and experiencing feelings of being stuck, anxious and unsure of what to do next, counselling is the solution.
The first positive step is recognising the need to talk to a counselling professional and allowing ourselves time and space to explore our past and reflect on the here and now.
Finding the right counsellor is also key to recovery as it needs to be someone who is fully qualified, empathetic, non-judgemental, supportive and has years of experience.
Final step is to be open, trusting, honest so that we are seen and heard, maybe for the first time. Therapy provides a better understanding of self and enhanced skills to process life's difficulties more effectively.
Practice description
As a clinical counsellor working for the NHS and privately, I have counselled hundreds of clients. I am passionate about helping with anxiety, depression, grief, isolation, low mood, breakups, often rooted in our upbringing, human development or relationships.
I believe there is no "one size fits all" approach to counselling, so use a relational blended approach with you being central to the counselling. I listen and then work at your pace, exploring and working through the issues affecting you. You really do know yourself best, but by inviting me in on this therapeutic journey, together you'll come to a deeper understanding of yourself and the solutions required for whatever you are experiencing.
My first session
Finding the right counsellor is key to your recovery and my website www.sarahmordaunt.com provides lot of additional information about myself and my practice.
I offer a free 15 minute brief telephone conversation on why you are seeking counselling and what is to be achieved and can answer any questions.
When we agree to work together, we then book an Initial Assessment Session (IAS) lasting 30 mins and incurs a small fee. An Assessment Form & Contract will be emailed for completion and return and this is then discussed and explored during IAS with a therapeutic plan, date and time agreed for our sessions.
