About me and my therapy practice

I am a professional, encouraging and easy to talk to, BACP accredited counsellor and hypnotherapist.

I have over 15 years experience of working with individuals, couples and families.  Most of my experience is working in the NHS where I started as a midwife and cancer clinical trials researcher and NHS staff counsellor.

My specialist areas and interests in counselling are around grief and loss, illness, relationship issues (personal and professional), LGBT, infertility, stress and anxiety.

My approach is systemic - collaborative, respectful and affirming and I will take your lead and listen to you carefully. I will, if it's ok with you, ask questions, share with you what I notice, identify links with possible connections of past/current issues. You will always be the expert on you.

Practice description

You can expect a professional, warm welcome to the counselling process, to be put at your ease and to feel understood and cared about.

In my experience, people can worry about how to start counselling, what to say, how to say it and also wondering if they really need to have counselling. All of these things are normal concerns. Taking the first step can be hard and I will make sure you feel supported and empowered to make the right decision for you.

I am also a qualified clinical Hypnotherapist

My first session

If you reach out to me for an appointment, i will send you a registration/screening form to complete and return (which will be anonymised).  If you would rather do this over the phone, we can.

We can then agree a first appt which is usually completed via Teams/Zoom.  It may be that you want to achieve something specific from counselling or you may just want to see how it goes, talk about a difficult issue and use counselling to start to process thoughts/emotions that you are experiencing.  We will go at your pace and it won't be assumed that you want to carry on with regular appointments.  Sometimes it's good to have an initial session with a couple of different therapists to see if it's a good fit.
