About me and my therapy practice
A warm welcome from me.
It can feel a daunting task to make the decision to go for counselling and to find the right counsellor/therapist for you. I offer a free 30 minute consultation to enable you to meet me and we can discuss what to expect of counselling sessions, your hopes for the therapy and I can share how I work to enable you to make decision if you would like to work with me.
In my counselling practice I provide a welcoming and open space to clients where you do not feel judged and you can talk openly and honestly and feel genuinely listened to.
I am passionate about being an integrative therapist which enables me to respond to your needs and ways of being and communicating - drawing on different approaches and methods that might suit you. We can sit and you can talk and I will listen and where helpful for you we can also use visual and creative methods and somatic and breath work.
I am also a a trained coach and offer Therapeutic Coaching. This means I can work in a solutions focused way supporting clients to identify a change they want to make in life and work through a plan of how to get there, whilst also providing space for them to explore more deeply their past and present to see what might be blocking them or deeper level change they might want to make.
I work with a range of different clients - young adults (16+), adults and older adults - supporting them to take time to explore what is going on for them, working towards a greater understanding of themselves and how they are living their lives and making changes if they want/need.
"Sally is a wonderful therapist who offers warmth and understanding to everyone she works with. She has a great breadth of experience and works with both adults and students in higher education."
Jo Williams Counsellor, MBCAP.
Practice description
I run a small private practice in Woburn Sands just outside of Milton Keynes. I see clients face to face in a garden room at the bottom of my own garden (accessed down the side of the house). There is lots of parking nearby. Clients like the space and find it welcoming, peaceful and calming. I also see some clients on zoom or a combination of the two. Sessions generally take place weekly for 50 minutes.
Through my practice and work I support people who might have an acute need or specific issue they want to work through, such as a relationship break up or a loss, and others who want to do more long term development work on themselves and their inner world. Sessions can be for 6 weeks or some clients continue sessions long term.
I work with clients on whatever they need to bring and this often changes over the course of the sessions. This includes but is not limited to; getting to understand and manage anxiety, getting to know yourself and the different parts of you and how they impact on how you live your life, understanding how you respond to certain people and situations and why, childhood experiences and their impact on a person as an adult, processing and moving forward with traumatic experiences, processing loss and grief, identity issues, gender and sexuality, relationship issues and relationship break up, family conflict and dynamics, neuro-diversity and life transitions.
I am thoughtful and reflective about how I work with each client - working to respond to their needs and personality.
"Sally Hartley's aproach created a safe environment for exploration of my personal and professional goals. The experience for me was life changing with practical tools to help me on this jounrey. Her empathetic and kind approach in handling sensitve themes was what I appreciated most. I would highly recommend her coaching services to anyone that is looking to tap into their best self."
