About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes life can feel riddled with anxiety. Problems may appear insurmountable, leading to lack of sleep, elevated stress levels and constant worry, or interfering with our eating and our mood. Life can then be seen as pointless and empty, making us feel depressed, sad, angry, or lacking in self-esteem and self-confidence. Other times bereavement, grief or previous trauma leave a long-lasting mark. Relationships may become difficult. All these are issues that can be worked through in Counselling.
My practice is informed by the psychodynamic approach. That means examining motivations that are not always obvious. We consider how the past can inform the present. Sometimes, making links with things that have happened before can help us understand our current behaviour and perhaps any unhelpful or repeating patterns.
Above all, I will treat you with respect and confidentiality. We will have the opportunity to navigate through your personal landscape in a safe space, directed by your pace and focused on your needs, so that you can fulfil your true potential and be the person that you want.
Practice description
I work in a safe, quiet and comfortable space in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. I also offer sessions online. Everything that will be discussed remains confidential. You are free to bring up anything that troubles you, or causes you anxiety, without fear of being judged.
My first session
In order to arrange a suitable time to talk, please either send me an email on: annie@annie-therapy.co.uk, or send a message/ WhatsApp on: 07874 211 089, to suggest a good time to have an initial discussion and also to outline your availability. Alternatively, you can leave a voice message. I endeavour to respond within 24 hours, within working days.
I offer an initial telephone conversation to explore what brings you to therapy. You can discuss you expectations and the ideal outcome of therapy. Our conversation will also give you an idea of what the process of therapy involves, especially if you haven't had any experience in the past. That will take roughly up to half an hour.
If we feel we can work together, we will arrange a mutually convenient time to begin our counselling sessions.
