About me and my therapy practice
I understand that life does not always go the way we expect, and my motivation for training as a counsellor came from wanting to provide others with the professional support we all need from time to time.
Sometimes, it is hard to make sense of things yourself or gain perspective from talking to friends and family. Taking time to tell your story can bring clarity, healing and empowerment. With empathy and compassion at the heart of it, I aim to create a warm, safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, working together at a pace that suits you.
Throughout my psychotherapeutic work, I have gained experience working with people struggling with a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, low mood, anger, low self-worth/self-esteem, loss, grief, stress, and relationship difficulties.
Practice description
I am an integrative therapist, drawing upon different therapeutic models when working with my clients. My roots are person-centred, but I also use practical models from transactional analysis, interventions from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and insights from attachment theory and psychodynamic counselling to explore past experiences and relationships that impact the present.
Our work would largely promote your independence and increase your sense of empowerment. The key to successful therapy is rooted in a genuine and trusting relationship that allows you to open up and explore your challenges.
My experience and qualifications
- CPCAB-accredited Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
- CPCAB-accredited Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
- Registered member of BACP (MBACP)
- Enhanced DBS
- Full Insurance
- ICO registered
As well as working in private practice, I have experience in short-term and long-term work with clients within local counselling agencies working face-to-face and online.
My first session
When you get in touch, I will offer a free fifteen-minute telephone call to discuss any questions you may have about the counselling process before making your decision to proceed. If you want to go ahead at that point, we can arrange an initial session. I always recommend having an initial session to ‘see if the shoe fits’. Feeling comfortable and understood is the most essential aspect for counselling to work its best for you.
If you decide to proceed, we will arrange an initial session of up to 50 minutes, during which we will discuss the reasons you have come for therapy, share information, and decide whether working together would be the best fit for you.
If we decide to work together, we will agree on the most beneficial way to meet (face-to-face or online) and begin working in weekly 50-minute or fortnightly sessions (longer sessions available when fortnightly).
