About me and my therapy practice

Hi, my name is Andy. As a qualified person-centred counsellor, I strive to offer a warm, friendly and non-judgmental counselling space, where we work at your pace and you always remain in control.

It can feel daunting to approach someone you don’t know to discuss personal and private matters that you may not have spoken to anyone else about before and it’s really important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor.

My counselling approach is person centred. This means that you are in control of the content, focus, depth and pace of our sessions.   My role is to be alongside you as we develop a relationship in which I hope you will feel supported, valued and understood, and safe to talk openly about the issues and difficulties you are experiencing in your life.

Please do visit my website to find out more about me and the way that I work. You are also very welcome to get in touch with me for an initial telephone conversation or a no-cost and no-obligation introductory session to discuss how it might be for us to work together.

Practice description

I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP (the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and ACTO (the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online).

I have worked with people from a variety of backgrounds, religions and cultures and have had the privilege of supporting individuals, young and older, experiencing a wide range of life issues and emotional and mental health difficulties.

Stress;  Depression; Anxiety; Relationship problems or breakdown; Men's issuesAnger; Trauma;  Loss of meaning and sense of purpose; Family issues; Post-traumatic stress; Sexuality and gender identity; Grief, loss and bereavement; Work, study and retirement related issues; Problems with confidence or self-esteem; Body issues; Sexual abuse and violence; Loneliness and isolation; Illness and health; Neurodivergence (e.g. Autism and ADD / ADHD).

I enjoyed a varied career before becoming a counsellor - as a Solicitor, as a Legal Recruiter and as an Advocate for children in care - as well as a number of years as a stay-at-home dad. In addition to my counselling private practice, I have also volunteered since 2019 with Bristol Mind’s counselling service (affiliated to the national mental health charity, Mind).

Like many of us, I have experienced my own share of challenges in life. I am passionate about my counselling work and feel genuinely fortunate to be working in a role where I can help others to find their own ways through difficult times.
