About me and my therapy practice

My name is Samantha Moxon, and I am a trauma-informed counsellor working with adults who are navigating the impact of difficult past experiences, complex relationships, and emotional overwhelm. My private practice is grounded in warmth, compassion, and the belief that healing becomes possible when we feel safe enough to be truly seen and heard.

Like many therapists, my path into this work has been shaped by my own lived experiences. I understand, on a personal and professional level, how early relationships, unhealed trauma, and long-standing patterns of guilt, shame, or self-doubt can affect how we relate to ourselves and others.

I offer a calm, respectful, and non-judgemental space where you can begin to make sense of your story at your own pace.

The S.A.F.E.R Framework, a Trauma-Informed Approach to Counselling

At the heart of my practice is the S.A.F.E.R. Framework — a structure I developed to support clients working through the effects of trauma, emotional pain, or long-standing patterns of survival-based behaviour. This model helps us to explore, stabilise, and restore your inner world in a way that honours both safety and depth.

The Stabilise Pack: Support at the Start of the Journey

For clients beginning therapy — especially those who have experienced trauma, emotional dysregulation, or a sense of overwhelm — I offer a Stabilise Pack: a personalised bundle of psychoeducation, tools, and reflective exercises designed to support the first stage of your therapeutic journey.

We use the Stabilise Pack in our work together during the early stages, and you’ll also have access to it between sessions to revisit and build confidence in using the tools independently.

Practice description

I am based in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, offering therapy to adults both in-person from a comfortable, confidential setting and online via Zoom. I also offer Single Session Therapy for clients who feel just one conversation may be enough.

My therapy space is calm, welcoming, and designed to help you feel safe and at ease. Whether we meet face-to-face or online, you can expect a consistent, compassionate presence and a space where all parts of you are welcome.

Clients often come to me when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about who they are outside of their roles and responsibilities. Many are navigating trauma, emotional pain, complex family dynamics, or simply the quiet ache of not feeling good enough. You don’t need to have a clear reason for coming — you just need to feel ready to start.

In working with me, you can expect:

A warm, non-judgemental and respectful relationship

A calm, steady presence who will walk alongside you

A trauma-informed and paced approach, grounded in emotional and nervous system safety

Support in making sense of your experiences and patterns

Practical tools and gentle insight, tailored to your needs

A space where you are met with compassion, not pressure

Therapy with me isn’t about quick fixes — it’s about building trust with yourself over time, reconnecting with who you really are, and learning how to respond to life from a place of self-worth and clarity.

My first session

Your First Session with Me

Prior to the first session, I will send you a Client Intake Form and a couple of questionnaires to complete.

Our first session is about building a foundation of trust and understanding. I want you to feel welcome and safe to bring whatever is on your mind—there’s no issue too big or too small. We’ll review the information you’ve provided, clarify anything that feels important, and start to explore your hopes and concerns for our work together.

This session will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My role isn’t to judge or diagnose, but to listen, support, and help you find the insights and strategies that best fit your life.

What We’ll Talk About

• Your reasons for coming to counselling and what you hope to achieve

• Any challenges, emotions, or stressors you’re facing right now

• Your coping strategies and support systems

• Any urgent issues that may need immediate attention

• How confidentiality works and what you can expect from our ongoing sessions

Practical Details

• Session Format: We can meet in person, online, or by phone—whatever is most comfortable for you.

• Session Length: Sessions are usually 60 minutes. We’ll choose a frequency that suits your schedule and needs.

• Fees & Payment: I’ll let you know all the details about fees, payment options, and cancellation policies before we begin.

• Accessibility: Please let me know if there’s anything that will help make sessions more accessible or comfortable for you—whether that’s language, cultural considerations, or anything else.
