About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Sarah and I want to help you feel better about yourself and your life. I understand that life can bring many challenges and difficulties. I can be there for you to share these experiences and to really listen to and help you make sense of what is happening now or what has happened in the past.
My initial training was focused on the psychodynamic approach, which looks on how the past can influence the present, but I incorporate other approaches where they are most beneficial to clients as individuals. I also currently work with HE students as a Specialist Mentor for Mental Health.
I offer online and telephone counselling sessions to individual adults. You will be listened to, accepted and respected regardless of what issues you bring. I will not judge you or tell you what to do but will support you to work through any difficulties you may be experiencing and make any decisions that you feel are right for you. I provide a calm, safe space, in which you can feel open to exploring what is going on with you and how you are feeling.
Together we may look at your life and experiences and how they may they have shaped the person you are today and whether this has any influence on why you might be struggling now.
I can help you access and process emotions and experiences that may be difficult or painful, whilst hleping you fell contained, so that you don't feel overwhelmed. I can help you develop self-compassion and to let go of feelings of self-blame and low self-esteem.
Practice description
I believe that the relationship with counsellor and client is key and that counselling is a process where client and counsellor work together. I am happy to have an initial chat with you to find out what you need help with and whether I might be the right fit for you.
I offer long term or short therapy either online or by telephone, these can be open-ended or for a fixed number of sessions. We can regularly review your experience and progress together and choose whether there are specific issues you want to focus on in your sessions or whether you want to bring how you are feeling each week.
I offer weekly and fortnightly sessions.
