About me and my therapy practice
I believe that everyone longs to feel validated and accepted. Yet sharing our innermost thoughts may feel unnerving, overwhelming, and sometimes even shameful. I strongly believe that exploring our private worlds with a trusted counsellor, at the right pace, can repair complex problems and resolve long-standing issues.
Some enter counselling to free themselves from anxiety and depression. Others need to work through a bereavement, resolve conflicts with their partner, or to heal from a past, painful episode. Maybe old coping strategies no longer soothe and comfort, and you need to forge new pathways and imbed more helpful solutions.
Practice description
An experienced counsellor, I work with both individuals and couples. My client profile is wide-ranging, includes all adult ages, straight and LGBT, and an even mix of men and women. Some people come for just a few sessions and move on, others stay on for multiple years.
I am non-prescriptive and work with each client on their own terms. Whether you are single, newly together, or in a long-term relationship, my approach is non-judgement as I respond to your specific needs and wishes. I work as a facilitator and guide to help you discover your own solutions. You will find me a compassionate, active listener, and if asked, can offer my own ideas and thoughts.
My first session
Through the process of counselling we will explore together various options in a safe environment focused on achieving your aims.
Mostly we will engage in talk therapy. We can start by meeting every week for 50 minutes either in person, or via Zoom, whatever is more convenient for you. I recommend starting with six sessions, followed by a review to gauge how things are going.
I am trained in a number of different modalities (Gestalt, Parts work, Mentalization Based Therapy). So interested clients can use the therapy space in creative and unexpected ways – to rehearse conversations; to resolve conflicts with family members, even those who may no longer be available; perhaps engaging in dialogue with a self-critical voice, or other aspect of themselves.

Availability
I see clients in Kentish Town in person on Monday and Tuesday evenings, and various daytimes.
I also have Wednesday evenings available for Zoom sessions.
About me and my therapy practice
I am trained in both Psychodynamic and Systemic counselling. I also use Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Internal Family Systems. I am also a qualified MBT (Mentalization Based Therapy) therapist - the work is short-term, and solution-focused (10 sessions). Especially appropriate for high-conflict couples.
In plain English, I bring a lifetime of experience to the counselling room and adapt my approach to suit the needs of each individual case. You will find me warm and compassionate, and readily offer my reflections as well.

Workplace coaching
Sometimes you need help with problems at work. I hold an MA in organisational consulting so we can also explore your workplace issues and career challenges.
My first session
During your first session I'll learn what brings you to counselling. I will gently enquire about your life at present, and what you want to achieve. You will also get a sense of me and how I work. Even in the first session and if you think it’s helpful, I may suggest some tools that you can practice at home.
For couples, I will help you listen to each other, not just to the words but what is underneath. I offer insights so the two of you can work things through, and I intervene when necessary. In order to move forward we will explore your current world and discover how your past may be influencing your present.
For all clients in whatever circumstance, I will do my best to make you feel safe and comfortable -- so my approach is compassionate and personable. Together will find new insights so you can work things through for yourself, though I readily offer my opinion when asked or I feel it may be useful.

Individuals
I help clients discover more about themselves as they work through issues and events that are keeping them stuck. Mostly we will engage in weekly talk therapy; but you might draw, write, or do exercises that explore different parts of you, your family, or specific life events. Whatever your circumstances, I will be right beside you as you explore how to move your life to a better place.
Some clients gain key insight and move quickly. Others want additional time to unpack more complex dynamics or circumstances.
Couples
It may be a change in life circumstances, an affair, or perhaps repetitive arguing that brings you here. I will bring my skills and experience to help you move to the next phase of your relationship -- whether that means learning how to develop more compassion and understanding in order to grow closer, or to move apart, if that's what you want.
