About me and my therapy practice
Entering counselling can be a daunting experience. Finding the right counsellor with whom one can create a trusting and collaborative relationship is especially important. My objective is to create an open and authentic therapeutic relationship to serve as the foundation of the work. I recognise the uniqueness of each person and respect their right to direct the process in their own way.
In counselling we talk about psychological, emotional and behavioural problems that you wish to address. We will meet once a week either on-line or in person at The Practice Rooms in Norwich where we can have confidential conversations in a comfortable environment. These conversations lead to better self-understanding, new ideas and an opportunity to shift perspective, ultimately leading to more contentment in life and more adaptive behaviours. These are therapeutic conversations which can console us or provoke us to change old unhelpful attitudes and behaviours. The work is done at an easy pace with no coercion. You are the expert on your own life and you set the agenda.
My study of psychology has led me to embrace the theories of transpersonal psychology which honour both human science and human spirituality. Transpersonal psychology is a holistic psychology that aims at self-development and transformation. I am interested in soul and spirit and the deeper mysteries we encounter on the journey of healing. I want to work consciously with our problems and see what they have to teach us. They are a part of our heroic journey and our struggle with them forms the meaning of our lives.
Supporting clients in developing resilience, confidence and contentment in their life by incorporating practical action and new ideas is key to my approach. Working with clients and seeing their growth and evolution is a joy and privilege. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am bound by their code of ethics.
