About me and my therapy practice
I am Amanda, a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor. Coming to see a counsellor can be daunting, yet it can also be the start of the change, understanding, healing, and/or self-insight you may be seeking. I offer a free initial conversation, lasting up to 30 minutes, which helps us to see if I am the right counsellor for you.
I use an integrative approach in counselling, which emphasises the importance of the therapeutic relationship. My practice is informed by several psychotherapeutic models/theories including Person Centred, Attachment, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Systemic Approaches. Do not worry if you are unsure about what all of that means, it means I know a number of different methods that could help you.
Please contact me to discuss how I can help you.
Practice description
Counselling helps you to look at the relationships, thoughts, and behaviours that have an unhealthy impact on you, and can support you in making alternative life choices. I will help you find your own solutions and will not give you my opinions or prescribe medication.
I have worked with individuals from a range of backgrounds who have experienced or are experiencing challenges that have a negative impact on them. This has included (but is not limited to) trauma, anxiety, depression, domestic abuse, addiction, low self-esteem, core beliefs systems, parenting, neurodivergence, disability, illness, stress, relationships, and unhealthy coping mechanisms.
Before starting a private counselling practice I worked for a Domestic Abuse Service, counselling survivors of domestic abuse, and a Family Centre, counselling parents struggling with the challenges of family life. I previously worked for a charity running courses in high schools that help participants build positive mental well-being and life confidence, and also for a charity that supports those seeking freedom from addiction.
I work with adults (18 plus). I do not offer couples counselling.

My first session
We would arrange a free initial conversation lasting up to 30 minutes, on zoom or by phone. We will discuss some of your background information, what you hope to gain from counselling, and any questions you may have. If you choose to go ahead we then arrange an initial consultation (for 50 minutes) which would be more detailed, and also make sure that I am the right counsellor for your needs. If we agree to work together, we would then arrange a regular 50 minute appointment (in-person, online, or by phone).
The initial conversation is free and lasts for up to 30 minutes, and the following sessions are £55 per session (for 50 minutes).
Concessions may be available for those on low or no income.
