About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Cheryl.

Reaching out for help can feel overwhelming, especially when life feels uncertain. Whether you or a loved one is struggling with anxiety, depression, past trauma, relationship difficulties, or the stress of daily life, it’s okay to ask for support  and I’m here to help you take that first step.

I specialise in Transactional Analysis, early childhood trauma, and bereavement.

I am an accredited and qualified Psychotherapist and counsellor I am qualified to work with both children and adults.

As an accredited member of UKCP and a member of BACP, I adhere to the highest ethical standards in the field of psychotherapy.

I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to explore whatever is going on for you, at your own pace. My approach is rooted in Transactional Analysis (TA), a powerful model that helps us understand patterns of behaviour, thoughts, and feelings particularly those formed early in life and how they might be impacting your present-day relationships and sense of self.

Working with TA means we might explore your life script, ego states, or recurring relational patterns to bring awareness and choice where you may have previously felt stuck. I believe that with insight and the right support, lasting change is possible.

My work is collaborative and tailored to each individual. I integrate creative techniques when appropriate, and I always go at a pace that feels right for you. Whether we’re working through grief, untangling the impact of childhood trauma, or simply making space to hear yourself clearly, I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and care.

I offer both in-person and remote sessions, and I work with children, adolescents, and adults in a confidential, supportive environment where your privacy and wellbeing are always respected.

Practice description

My practice is a supportive, inclusive space where children, adolescents, and adults can feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of judgment. I offer both in-person sessions in a quiet, private setting and remote sessions via a secure online platform, giving you the flexibility to access therapy in a way that feels most comfortable and convenient for you.

I work with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, loss, and relationship difficulties. For younger clients, I may incorporate creative and play-based approaches to help them express themselves more naturally and safely. When appropriate, I also offer creative approaches such as sandtray for adults too. This can be a powerful way to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences that might be difficult to express in words. My aim is always to meet each person where they are, tailoring the work to their unique experiences and goals.

My focus is not just on understanding your past but also on creating positive, sustainable changes. Whether through learning new coping skills, improving self-esteem, or healing from difficult experiences, the goal is always to help you move forward with greater clarity and emotional resilience.

Confidentiality is central to the work we do together, and I always take time to explain the boundaries and limits of this so you feel informed and secure from the start.

Whether you're seeking support for yourself or your child, I’m here to offer a consistent, compassionate space where change and growth can happen.

My first session

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I understand that you might be feeling nervous or unsure. The first session is really about getting to know each other. We’ll take time to talk about what’s brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and any questions or concerns you might have.

Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held weekly, but we can discuss what works best depending on your needs and circumstances. This is also an opportunity for you to get a feel for how I work and ask any questions you may have. There’s no pressure it’s important that the space feels right for you, and we’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable.

If you’re bringing a child or young person, the first session may involve meeting with both the child and parent/carer to understand the challenges from both perspectives, before moving into more individual work.

I’ll also explain how I work, the boundaries of confidentiality, and we can discuss practical details like session frequency and whether you'd prefer in-person or online sessions. My aim is to make this first step feel supportive, clear, and respectful of whatever you're bringing.

I offer a free, no-obligation telephone consultation, where we can talk about what you're going through, your needs, and how I can best support you. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, explore your options, and decide if we’re the right fit to work together.

This is an important first step toward receiving the support you deserve and ensuring you feel comfortable and confident moving forward.
