About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Annabelle. I am a qualified integrative counsellor. This means I can draw on a range of psychological approaches and tailor my approach to suit your needs as they evolve, whether you need someone to sit with you in your pain, enable you to find acceptance, explore changes or conflicts in your sense of self, heal wounds from the past or make positive changes for the future.
I have ten years' experience in the NHS working psychotherapeutically with clients with depression, anxiety and physical health challenges.
I offer a calm, warm, confidential and non-judgmental space, a chance to feel heard and supported, to pause and think about you, and what you need, process your thoughts and feelings, make sense of your experience, develop new perspectives and greater self awareness. I will seek to understand your experience with empathy and compassion.
We may work together to identify and explore how certain patterns may have developed as a result of your past experiences, notice things that you tend to do which are keeping you stuck, explore possible motivations for continuing to do them and perhaps experiment with doing something different, and enable you to find effective ways of coping and a rich and meaningful life.
I have experience of helping people with a wide range of issues including
Anxiety
Depression
Stress
Shame
Bereavement and loss
Relationship or family issues
Health challenges
Identity including sexual identity
Trauma
Change and transition.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor the main modalities which form the foundation of my approach are person-centred, cognitive-behavioural including compassion-focused, psychodynamic and relational but I may also draw on other approaches including mindfulness to support you as a unique individual according to your needs. We may explore how the past has affected you, how it continues to influence how you respond to situations occurring in the here and now, how our thoughts and behaviours influence how we feel, identify helpful ways of managing and accepting difficult thoughts and feelings and how you can live a fuller and more meaningful life.
