About me and my therapy practice

I strongly believe that the client knows themselves best, therefore I listen not to diagnose, but to understand you and how you came to be. I appreciate everyone wants to be happy, but the idea of happiness will look different to everyone - to some, it may be having better relationships with their loved ones, to others, it may be excelling at their career, and others may want to have a better relationship with themselves. Together, we can work through the barriers like anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, or anything else. Whatever it is that your happiness looks like, I want to help you get there.

I am a BACP registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, offering in person, online and phone sessions. I don't believe in a ‘one size fits all’ system therefore I offer a bespoke approach to therapy, meaning I tailor the therapy to fit your needs.

Practice description

I work in partnership with two private GP's, in a clinic called Four18 Wellbeing based in Derby. The doctors running the clinic has over 30 years of NHS experience, and they were looking for a dynamic mental health professional which led me to partner up with them. I have a room upstairs which, sadly, is only accessible via a short flight of stairs. For any clients that this might prove to be an issue, please let me know at the point of the enquiry as we might be able to use different office downstairs. The clinic has a free on-site parking and a waiting area. I provide light refreshments during our sessions if and when required, such as water, tea and coffee.

My first session

The first session can be anxiety provoking for some people, but rest assured, I try to make this as relaxed as I possibly can. In my website, you will find more information about what to expect from our first session so I encourage you to have a look, or text/email me if you have any questions - I am happy to help, and I try to respond within 48 hours. I also offer free 10-15min phone call as well, which can provide you with an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

In short, our first session is a light chat about you and your issues, and what led you to therapy. We explore different ways in which we could try and help you, and there is no obligation to come for a session number two if you do not want to! However, provided we are both happy to work together, you can book in for as many or as little future sessions as you would like. From then on, things get a little more structured and more specific to your personal circumstance.
