About me and my therapy practice
As a person-centred counsellor, my approach is collaborative. I believe people have the ability to work through and find solutions to their own issues when they are truly listened to, without judgment. I do not offer advice or set homework, instead I provide a safe space for us to explore your mindset and emotional reactions. Our sessions are driven by you and whatever you wish to talk about.
My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and I offer additional targeted therapies and psycho-education that can help to sooth and alleviate emotional and psychological after effects of traumatic events.
I particularly welcome neurodivergent clients, and anyone who requires a greater degree of sensitivity, understanding and acceptance from their therapist.
Practice description
Most people will experience mental health difficulties at some point in their lives. Life is full of unexpected twists and turns which may shake us up, threaten our sense of safety, make us question who we are or if we can cope. You may be experiencing relationship or family issues, grief and loss, work or university stresses, or health problems. All this and more can leave you feeling anxious, depressed, overwhelmed or burnt out.
Your struggles with mental health may be due to recent experiences, historic traumas or a life time of difficulties. Alternatively, you may not know why or how these feeling have arisen and you need help to figure it out.
Whatever your reasons for seeking out therapy now, I can offer you a warm, supportive environment. We can explore your thoughts and feelings, and make sense of your experiences. I am sensitive and approachable, allowing you to feel accepted and understood, without fear of judgement. My hope is to empowered you to find healthy coping strategies, to move from coping to thriving and to find compassionate acceptance of yourself.
I am a neurodiversity-affirming counsellor, which means that I understand and accept different ways of thinking, feeling, processing and experiencing the world. If you have recently discovered that you are ADHD or autistic, I can help you find understanding and acceptance of your unique strengths and weaknesses. I also welcome parents and partners of people that have received these diagnoses. Whilst I cannot diagnose these conditions for you, you do not need to have a formal diagnosis to access my support.
