About me and my therapy practice
I'm a BACP registered Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, trained in Transactional Analysis.
I'll listen to what you tell me about your situation, and we'll tailor an appropriate approach. This will draw from a variety of theoretical models, helping support you.
You're the expert on yourself, and this is key. I'll be alongside you as we work together to establish what you need, and I'll support you as you move through your counselling journey.
Central to my work is feeling safe, feeling heard and feeling seen, coupled with honesty and being valued.
Throughout the time we spend, there'll be a myriad of feelings and emotions, we may laugh or cry, we may be quiet or use the space to offload and process. Most of all I'll accept you as you are with whatever you bring and however it comes. It's always a privilege to work with clients and share thoughts and feelings.
I work with adults with a wide range of issues including anxiety and sadness, low mood, bi-polar, loss, loneliness, bereavement, family issues, parenthood, men’s issues, menopause, self-esteem, trauma, domestic violence- both male and female, childhood emotional and sexual abuse, neurodivergence- Autism, ADHD, estrangement, military, anger management, twins.
I work both short-term and long-term and hold an enhanced DBS. I attend regular supervision in line with BACP guidance for good practice.
My practice room is in a private building tucked away from the hurly burly of day-to-day life. It's welcoming and warm with plenty of light and space!
My first session
Coming to your first session can feel daunting as it's a first step, and often the hardest step to take. I appreciate there's a lot that happens before getting to the therapy room!
The initial session is for you and I to get to know each other a bit and decide whether we're a good fit.
Once we've discussed the importance and limits of confidentiality, I'll do an assessment and we'll look at why you've sought therapy at this time and what you'd really like to get out of it - where you'd like to see yourself. I'll be able to give you some clarity on how we can work together and how your therapy might look.
