About me and my therapy practice
When thoughts and feelings get too much, we can lose sight of ourselves. I aim to meet you where you are and look together at what’s happening for you, and perhaps make changes based on what you find.
Practice description
It can be hard to let yourself try something like counselling, to take the risk of looking at parts of yourself that feel vulnerable, let alone allow someone else to see them too! I use the tag line “Allow Yourself” to encourage the part of you that wants to take that risk, that thinks it might be worth it, because it knows deep down how much you matter.
I use Person Centered theory, which is about helping you grow towards your potential, and Psychodynamic theory, which is about understanding how your past may be affecting things in your present. Both theories offer ways to understand yourself which can help you to make new and different choices.
I work integratively, which means I pull in theory when and where it might help you based on what you share in our sessions. I also focus on the relationship between us, as this offers an opportunity to further understand yourself and how you relate to others.
Areas that I specialise in are anxiety, depression and self-harm. I also have an interest and experience in working with identity topics. These include, but are not restricted to, existential questions, gender and sexuality, and relationships, including non-monogamy, polyamory, and kink.
