About me and my therapy practice
Welcome! Choosing a therapist can be a challenging and nerve-wracking process, so let me tell you a little about myself in hopes it will make it a bit easier. My name is Mari and I’m a BACP registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. In our sessions you can expect from me warmth, compassion and acceptance. I will support you to share your troubles, welcome all parts of you without judgement, and gently challenge you to encourage self-awareness. I have availability on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings in person in Eastbourne or online. I also offer email counselling at more flexible times.
Practice description
I trained as a humanistic therapist, with an emphasis on what it is to be a human in the world and all the challenges that comes with. I believe that you are the expert on yourself, and at the same time, we are capable of hiding all sorts of things from ourselves which can keep us stuck. Therapy is an opportunity to not only receive support for the struggles you are facing, but an chance for self-discovery also. I take a gentle, investigative approach which may include looking to your past experiences and early relationships as well as what is happening in the moment to help you achieve a greater sense of self-awareness. Knowing yourself better can be a powerful resource to make changes, acknowledge challenges you are facing, and cultivate compassion for yourself. My first session
The first session is an opportunity to gather information about you, the struggles you’re facing, and what you are hoping for from starting therapy. It is also a chance for you to see how I work, ask any questions, and get a feel for whether I am the therapist for you. What I can help with
