About me and my therapy practice
Clients (18+) work with me on a variety of issues, including relationships, stress, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, loss and grief, ADHD, autism, and spirituality/psychospiritual-development. I offer counselling and psychotherapy to both individuals and couples (couples, or family members, or friends).
My approach:
For individual therapy, I primarily use the person-centred approach. This allows you to explore your thoughts and inner feelings in a safe, caring, and supportive environment, and at your own pace. My therapeutic style is gentle and non-judgemental. I endeavour to offer a space that enables you to feel accepted, nurtured, and supported.
I’m interested in you as a whole person. I not only listen to your difficulties, but also to your interests and aspirations, facilitating a holistic view of what may be of help to you.
For couples therapy, I use an integrative approach.
What happens in a therapy session:
You simply express whatever is bothering you. It could be a difficult event in your life, and/or troubling feelings about yourself or others. I will listen to you attentively, working with your feelings, emotions, verbal and non-verbal expressions, providing feedback when appropriate.
As our work together progresses, you may gain a sense of clarity, strength, a greater ability to tolerate difficulties, or the enthusiasm to try something new. This can often involve tapping into your inner wisdom for potential solutions.
A little bit about my background:
I work full-time in private practice as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I have also facilitated groups on self-esteem and relationship improvement.
I have two MScs in humanistic psychotherapy and transpersonal psychology (whole person psychology), and a BSc(Hons) in Economics. I'm also a fully qualified clinical hypnotherapist and motivational coach.
Practice description
I offer both short-term and long-term therapy. An one-on-one therapy session lasts up to 50 minutes. A couples therapy session lasts up to 60 minutes.
Face-to-face therapy takes place at comfortable and confidential premises in Glasgow city centre (two minute's walk from Glasgow Central Station). Online therapy can be anywhere UK and worldwide (excluding the US and Canada).
My first session
Free initial consultation:
As the therapeutic relationship is key to therapy outcomes, I offer a free initial phone/video call of up to 15 minutes to determine whether we are a good match. Please email me to book the consultation and let me know the time slot that suits you.
The practicalities:
If you feel like working with me after the initial call, I will send you a copy of the Counselling Working Agreement with detailed information of confidentiality, data protection, attending/changing sessions, etc. This is for you to read, sign and return to me.
Our first session:
We will jointly establish your intended outcome for the therapy. The number of therapy sessions required can be left open-ended, or we can agree on an initial number to start with.
