About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Rachael, thank you for visiting. I offer a space to talk, reflect and gain a further understanding of yourself. Life can be unexpected and whatever you are seeking counselling for, we can work together in a safe and non-judgemental space.
Counselling offers a space to talk, reflect and gain further understanding of yourself. It can help you find your way through daily struggles, overwhelm or ongoing challenges. It also allows for discovery of who you are and change in your perceptions.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). My core training is in the person-centred approach of counselling, meaning I am not here to advise you, instead to work alongside you in offering support and building a natural rapor with you to explore your feelings and discover your own way to walk through life. You have the resources within you to face your struggles, I will simply be there to offer a space for you to uncover them and build a therapeutic relationship along the way.
Practice description
I work integratively to ensure you are getting the most out of your sessions. Therefore I also draw on various training and may incorporate creative tools, strategies and mindfulness into our sessions, where you feel comfortable. Your process is an important part of our time together, working at a pace that suits you.
I have worked with clients who have a number of presenting issues including anxiety, bereavement, depression, feeling stuck, long-term illness, relationship issues, self harm and suicidal thoughts. I have also worked with carers and those in crisis.
I work online and outside, providing walking therapy (area dependant), where I can offer both short and long-term therapy. Your needs are individual and we can decide on the best fit for you, together.
My first session
During our free 15 minute initial conversation we can book in a time (if you decide you start your counselling journey with me) for your first session.
The first session will be an opportunity for you to discuss some of your reasons for wanting to attend therapy. I will also conduct an assessment as we talk, to gain an understanding of what type of sessions may suit you. Here I will also explain about confidentiality and terms of our time together.
