About me and my therapy practice

Does your chronic illness feel like it’s taking over your life? Managing your health while trying to keep up with daily life can feel overwhelming, isolating, and exhausting. The frustration of unpredictable symptoms, the guilt of needing support, and the loneliness of feeling like no one truly understands can weigh heavily. You don’t have to face this alone.

Are you a university student struggling with homesickness, difficult roommates, or the pressure to succeed? The challenge of balancing academic demands, social expectations, and personal well-being can feel overwhelming. You deserve support.

Hi, I’m Claire. I specialise in helping individuals with chronic health conditions navigate the emotional toll of their illness, so they can feel more in control and create a meaningful life beyond their diagnosis.

I also support university students dealing with academic and social pressures, helping them build resilience, set boundaries, and find balance so that university feels like a time of growth rather than constant stress.

In therapy, I offer a warm, compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Whether you’re managing a long-term health condition or adjusting to university life, my goal is to help you build confidence, build inner-strength, and find ways to create a life that works for you.

Practice description

As someone living with a long-term illness, I understand the daily challenges of managing both physical and emotional wellbeing. I also know how difficult it can be to feel like your body or circumstances dictate your life.

Similarly, my experience supporting university students has deepened my understanding of the pressures that come with academic performance, transitions, and anxiety about the future.

As someone living with long-term illness, you may be experiencing:

  • The emotional impact of chronic illness, including feelings of anxiety, powerlessness, and uncertainty about the future.
  • Worrying about losing your independence or feel uncertain about your future.
  • Difficulties adjusting to life with a long-term condition, including changes in identity and relationships.

As a student in higher education, you may be struggling with:

  • Dealing with the demands of academic performance, social pressures, and expectations from peers.
  • Experiencing feelings of loneliness, isolation, and difficulty forming meaningful friendships.
  • Navigating the challenges of transitioning to independent living.
  • Struggling with effective time management.
  • Finding it difficult to balance personal life with academic responsibilities.

Through our work together, I can help you:

  • Develop coping strategies to manage stress, overwhelm, and uncertainty.
  • Strengthen your voice, express what's important to you, and ask for support without guilt.
  • Work through unhelpful thoughts and self-doubt to build self-compassion and confidence.
  • Navigate life transitions, whether adapting to a chronic illness or adjusting to university life.
  • Find fulfilment beyond illness or studies – Your illness or grades don’t define you. Explore what makes you feel fulfilled so that you can make choices that fit the life you want.

If you’re ready to take the first step, I offer a free introductory call where we can discuss your needs and how I can support you. Let’s connect and explore how therapy can help you move forward.

My first session

During our first session, I will take the time to understand your current challenges and explore the difficulties you are facing. We will also go through the counselling agreement, and there will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the agreement, how I work, or my practice. As part of our discussion, we may explore any potential risks to your wellbeing and establish whether you have a support network in place. Together, we will begin to identify what you are looking for from therapy/ therapy goals and work collaboratively towards fostering positive change and personal growth.
