About me and my therapy practice
I am a registered therapist with experience collaborating with people from all occupations and backgrounds.
The idea of coming to therapy may feel daunting and overwhelming. You may have reached a point where you know something is not right, or something fundamental has changed in your life. You may be feeling anxious, depressed, or having difficult thoughts, or just feel numb about things. You may be unclear how you got to that place or what to do about it.
Talking to someone about these important things takes courage. I provide a welcoming, safe, and confidential space where you can talk freely about how you are feeling and what has brought you to therapy. There is no criticism or judgement, I listen, ask questions, and build your trust, so we can work together to explore these difficult feelings.
I have a master’s degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Warwick. I trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapeutic counsellor at Birkbeck University of London and at the University of Brighton. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (UPCA)
I approach therapy from a systemic and integrative perspective, my experience has shown me that people and their lives, are complex, layered, and multifaceted. So, any therapeutic approach should reflect and accommodate this. It can be useful to consider how past relationships have become patterns for current ones. Working together to explore family and background experiences can prove useful when considering current issues.
I work with adults (18+) face to face at my practice in Hove and Haywards Heath or on-line by Zoom.
Practice description
I have twenty years’ experience working as a psychologist in Industry and Organisations in different countries and sectors. My experience of engaging with people and groups has shown me the importance of caring for our mental health and wellbeing. This understanding led me to explore psychodynamic, integrative, and systemic theory, and to then to train and qualify as a therapist.
My approach is supportive, collaborative, and reflective, aiming to deepen your self-understanding and help you to explore choices and make changes if needed.
My first session
During our initial session you will have a chance to talk about your feelings, discuss your needs and get to know me and how I work. Out initial session also enables us to explore if we can work well together going forward. Whether therapy lasts a brief time, or for a longer period, a good working relationship between us is imperative and you are under no obligation to return after our first session. Please note I charge for all sessions.
