About me and my therapy practice
I am Chrissie, a qualified integrative counsellor working with adults, children and adolescents. Counselling can provide a safe, confidential, accepting space to talk over things. There may be specific things to discuss with the intention of accepting a situation or how to change current emotional responses. Unresolved past issues can play their part in a feeling stuck in situations; resolution could help to move life forwards again.
I believe that counselling offers a journey of discovery to reach positive change. This is paramount when working with clients that are reaching out for a space to talk over challenges. I provide a counselling experience that will offer a journey of discovery to reach positive change. Regular sessions will embrace reaching full potential and thinking forwards to the future, while exploring past and present.
Practice description
I work from a Holistically focused approach, which can explore and reach an understanding towards past events, becoming aware of this reduces how it impacts on the here and now. As things slot into place, forward movements in life can place you right where you would like to be. You may develop strength and feel more authentic as a person. I work to bring about self-compassion, self-awareness and helpful ways of thinking and being, this all contributes to living a more enjoyable, straightforward life.
My Equine therapy places you, me, and horses together in an environment that intends to encourage emotional growth and self-awareness. This therapy helps not only when working with a variety of mental health issues from addiction to low self-esteem, but it can feed the desire to experience a horses' inherent honesty and the amazing ability that they have of reading human emotions. Equine therapy is becoming increasingly popular in the UK and is offered it as a non-riding therapy.
My first session
Starting counselling can feel sensitive, it is a decision which is often reached delicately. For this reason, a counselling assessment within the first session can be a way of introducing yourself to the therapeutic process and will assist me to assess of your circumstances.
Assessment goals include:
To discuss confidentiality and the importance of how the space we work in provides safety and respect.
The opportunity to consider and substantiate what difficulties you may face in your life.
To understand your expectations of counselling session and explore the authenticity of can be resolved during our time working together.
The assessment is carried out in the same setting as future counselling sessions and the space is an empathic, safe and non-judgemental environment where confidentiality is respected.
If, at the end of the session, we make the decision to work together a mutually agreed day and time is arranged for future sessions. These will be arranged for the same day and time each week, unless otherwise agreed. The consistency of the sessions and the commitment for towards self-development and growth is pivotal, and the reason why weekly therapy sessions is the usual agreed way to work.
