Availability

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor.  On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays work as a Counsellor for The Matt Hampson Foundation, supporting those with life changing injuries and conditions.  I am able to offer Private work after 4pm on those days.  Monday's are devoted to Private Work.   Home visits are also available on request.  The majority of our sessions will be face to face at my counselling space in Stamford or at my Wellbeing pod at the Get Busy Living Centre.  If you prefer, I am able to offer sessions virtually.  I am also available for Outdoor Therapy within a 15 mile radius of Stamford.

About me and my therapy practice

I trained locally as a Person Centred Counsellor, working integratively.  This means I use other theories to help you in the way you need.  I believe you are the expert of yourself and you and I will work collaboratively.   I provide a safe, confidential, non-judgmental. empathic and honest space for you to talk freely and openly.  To take time to learn more about yourself; become more self compassionate, self accepting and self aware; to be at a place of self love and kindness.

Practice description

When life throws unexpected events and experiences in our way.  We have to learn to adapt,  get over it and move on.  This can be really difficult.  Especially, if our way of life, personally or professionally is affected.  Feelings of loss, grief, uncertainty, loneliness or helplessness can be overwhelming and we just don't know where to begin to set a new destination.

How we feel about ourselves, and our experiences can influence how we deal with events, how we manage relationships.  No sure of who we really are.

My experience includes working as a school counsellor as well as a counsellor within a male Cat. C  prison and have worked with suicide, loss, grief, abuse and addiction (including self harm and eating disorders); childhood trauma, anxiety, menopause, negative thoughts, bullying and also working with those who are neuro-diverse.  Also those with a disability and their families.

Together we will search  for the route causes of those things which trouble you so you can learn and understand more about yourself and begin look deep within for the answers you seek.  This is always done at your pace and safely.

I'm here to listen, and stay with you throughout our sessions and provide a space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and   share the space with you.  Embracing and acknowledging your own experience and challenges you may have faced and stay with you on your journey of self discovery and healing.

Our sessions can be face to face or on-line.  I also offer Outdoor Therapy, (within a 15 mile radius of Stamford).  A chance to walk/push/wheel and talk outside and connect with nature; connecting to all our senses.  If being active is not for you we can find somewhere to rest and talk and experience nature together.

My first session

Our initial 50 minute session will be an opportunity for us to talk through your expectations of counselling and what you hope to address by coming to therapy.  There will be an opportunity to ask as many questions as you have and most importantly it is an opportunity for you to get to know me a little and to make sure you feel comfortable with me.  There is no obligation and finding the right Therapist for you is the most important thing.  I will go through our Counselling Agreement and explain how our Counselling sessions will work, including confidentiality , costs and boundaries.

We will work together to understand what it is you wish to prioritise and which is the most important.

All future sessions will be an hour in duration, with an agreement to an initial 8 sessions.  I do empower you to attend weekly initially.  We will review where you feel you are after 6 sessions and we will work together and begin to look beyond your initial 8 sessions.  This may include, continuing at weekly, moving to fortnightly or even monthly.  You may chose to stop after those 8 sessions and this is something we can discuss together.
