About me and my therapy practice

My name is Kangli. I am a qualified, registered and professional Gestalt Counsellor/Psychotherapist, and Couple Counsellor. I am also trained in CBT and Person Centred therapy. I am based in Eastleigh, Hampshire (UK), and I offer in-person, online and telephone counselling for clients from age above 11. I work with both individuals and couples.

The way I work is warm, authentic, non-judgemental and creative, adapting to individual needs. I appreciate the diversity and uniqueness of each individual and I believe in people’s innate ability for continuous growth and unlocking potential. During our sessions, I offer a safe space where you can explore and voice your thoughts, feelings and emotions about how life affects you, a dedicated space for you to be you, or to search and discover your true self.

My main counselling approach is Gestalt. This means that I work with clients in a holistic way – not limiting to the single issue at hand, but also looking into other relevant elements. I work with clients on their present issues, but also explore how their past experiences might have shaped how they are today.

I also hold a pluralistic perspective in my approach. This means that I accept and value other therapeutic approaches that might benefit clients. For example, I have training in Person Centred Counselling, which helps me to listen to and respect clients’ own preferences and choices. I also have training in CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy so I can integrate some solution focused CBT techniques to help clients identify and challenge their negative thoughts and behaviours, and develop coping skills to manage problems.

Practice description

Echo Forest Therapy is the name of my private practice.

My therapy room is based in a quiet location in Eastleigh with parking available. I offer in-person, online and telephone counselling, which can be either short-term or long-term counselling.

I work with a wide range of issues that clients chose to bring, such as anxiety/stress, depression, self-harm, bereavement & loss, low self-esteem, trauma recovery, relationship difficulties, race, ethnicity and culture issue, neurodiverse related issue, long-term health issue and sexuality & gender issue. I also offer life coaching for people who's looking to explore another dimension of themselves, seek life goal, and pursue spiritual harmony.

I am bilingual and I can work in both English and Mandarin. Having lived in different countries and cultures, I have a deep understanding of the impact of being different and how it might affects people’s interaction with one another. I am familiar with different cultures and curious in learning more. Transitioning from one culture to another, transforming and integrating, managing feelings of lost, feelings of otherness, adapting and accepting changes, searching for a sense of belonging and new identity… these are examples of issues that can be explored and worked through within our sessions, especially for clients from ethnic minority background and multicultural clients.

I love nature and I especially appreciate the beauty of the deep forest. A forest is like our own mind – it can seem daunting and maze-like with many dark corners, but is ultimately full of wonders, beauty, peace and calmness. Echo Forest Therapy offer clients a safe space to seek their way through the mist of the forest, listening to the echo where the answer often lies within.

My first session

I offer a free, no-obligation, 20 minutes telephone/online appointment to discuss your needs and therapy goals, and for you to ask any questions you may have so that you can decide whether I am the right counsellor for you. This will also help us to have a basic understanding of how and whether we can work together.

Following initial appointment, if we decided to work together, my standard session is normally 50 minutes in length for individual and one hour for couple.
