About me and my therapy practice
It takes courage to seek counselling – whether it’s your first nervous step or a return to therapy – and it can be daunting, especially when you’re feeling anxious and low, finding the “right’ counsellor for you.
You may be “just not feeling myself” unable to live life to the full, confused and stuck why.
Or perhaps you know your challenges and struggle to share them with your family and friends. Your feelings become “the elephant in the room” as you fear being a “burden."
Maybe you’re a young person, stressed about exams, figuring out who you are, apprehensive about adulthood and what that means for you.
Do you put on a smile and “get on with it” because that’s what you’ve always done – always been expected to do?
I’ll create a warm, non-judgemental space where you can talk without fear of upsetting anyone; accepted for the person you are as we explore how you can grow into the person you want to become.
I'm a a fully qualified, accredited counsellor, working within the Bacp’s ethical framework. I work integratively, meaning I shape my approach to meet your needs as you’re an individual with unique experiences and your own take on the world.
I won’t tell you what to do or give you advice – I think you are the expert on you – as we try to untangle your thoughts together. If useful, we may explore your childhood and past to identify any issues or patterns which may still affect you and your relationships today.
Alongside my private practice, I work with Off The Record Twickenham, a counselling service for young people 11-24 and The Brain Tumour Charity, working with people living with brain tumours and their family and friends.
You'll always be at the heart of our therapeutic relationship. While I can’t promise I’ll always get it right or understand you straight away, I’ll be alongside you always trying to “get” you and your evolving needs. I will strive to do – be - my best to nurture you with tenderness and compassion to find your own way at your own pace to your true self.
Practice description
I offer weekly 50-minute sessions, on-line, phone or face-to-face at my practice room in Richmond.
I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship - it's a privilege to earn my clients' trust and help give them a voice when they may have always felt unheard.
I can work with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, anger, shame, relationship issues, sexuality, life transitions such as going to university, parenthood, redundancy and divorce, the impact of living with terminal cancer enabling people to break the taboo of talking about death, bereavement, grief and loss.
My first session
You can make initial contact with my by text or email. As it's vital you find a counsellor you can feel comfortable with and think you can grow to trust, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call on the phone or Zoom – which ever you prefer. I can tell you a bit more about how I work, answer your questions and see if we think we can work together.
Then before our first full 50-minute, paid session, we'll go through an initial assessment together (I will email it to you ahead of the session so you can have a look) to find out more about what why you're seeking counselling, why now and your hopes from therapy if we decide to carry on working together.
